Motifs, Baby Booties, Earrings, Doily and Snowflakes

Michelle loves to get packages in the mail and was thrilled with this one from Fox. A friend is having a baby and she decided to tat the baby booties in the Anne Orr book. Lenore English did a simplified pattern that a lot of people have used and because it's only available through the Way Back Machine I just went into the archives and copied it before it's gone for good.

Marta is always on the hunt for gold threads which have their own peculiar characteristics like these used for earrings. This bauble is covered with tatting in matching blue thread like the colour of the south seas.

Now that Nancy has her project done we can see the tumbling block shape. It's tatted in Lizbeth size 20 thread. Each flower took about 20 minutes to make, and the flowers are the size of a U.S. quarter. It's about 13 inches wide 11 inches high and took 5 weeks to tat. Whew!

Ann found that this was the perfect pattern for working on when her little one was sick with a fever. The motif is No. 15 - Rosette of Tatting, from Old-Fashioned Tatting Patterns, Book 1, edited by Barbara Foster.

Fox tatted tatted Sahmura, from Jon's new book in Altin Basik and Yarnplayer's Stardate with pink and green beads for a scrumptious motif. Then she did it again in green rayon thread, but somehow missed a section so that it only has 5 sides. Here you can see then with the shuttles included for scale. Very skinny thread. When La Cosette didn't have the pansy shuttle Fox wanted, a plot was hatched with IsDihara, and suddenly a Pansy shuttle showed up in her mailbox and Fox has already put it to the test. Tatters are the best! From Argentina, Monica sent some green thread and a lovely little motif.

Orsi's silk threads have arrived and she had to at least try out a little of it making Csipkelelku's motif for a Christmas wreath.
