Kristen has been working away at her Celtic Sugar and Spice Doily that was just starting to come together the last time we saw it. Since then she has added another double colour layer, a simple row of green, a row of split rings and finally a finishing row of ecru with bright blue beads that matched the blue thread. It was entered in the fair and won a best in show ribbon. She also entered a bookmark she made just for fun and it also won a best in show.
Linda tatted the Maple Leaf pattern by Tammy Rogers in size 20 Lizbeth #100 Falling Leaves. The Hummingbird pattern by Heather Johnson was tatted with Lizbeth #137 Berry Burst also size 20. The Snowflake 2 pattern by Roger aka Freedman is a very easy pattern worked up in two rounds done in Lizbeth snow white size 20. The pink heart is by Patti Duff, tatted with Lizbeth #145 Pink Parade size 40. The hummingbird is a pattern by Karey Solomon worked up in a SCMR done in Lizbeth size 20 colour #156, Watermelon. Jon's dragonfly also works up very quickly and nice to add in lots of projects.
Diane shares her Christmas in July package from Val.
Fox received an amazing gift of a custom shuttle from an anonymous giver. It's a lovely shuttle with an MOP silhouette of a cat in honour of Fox's beloved Misha, and Fox's name on the reverse. The Bunnys and Flowers edging from Aunt Ellen's Treasury Tatting Patterns graces a pair of socks for Mini-Boss. Fox was dissatisfied when she compared her recent motif to Jon's. Thinking the difference might be the beads, she did it again taking many careful hours without beads and while the quality is improved, she doesn't like the motif as much!
Gina is continuing to work through the D.M.C. Tatting publication and this is figure 12 of Plate 2. Her first sample is in size 20 DMC Special Cordonnet and a size 50 DMC thread for the crocheted header. She includes a picture with the stitch count for anyone who wants to give it a try. She's doing it again in a Lizbeth thread size 20 substituting Josephine knots for the small thrown off rings.
Lily showed the pattern that these earrings came from, but here are the earrings themselves. Tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Peacock Blues (size 20) with tiny glass gold seed beads and gold-filled hooks.
Wendy bought Jon Yusoff's book Elegant Tatting Gems and tatted Baiduri using Flora size 20 in two colours.

Motifs, Bookmarks, Snowflakes, Doily, Bracelet, Edging, Earrings and Heart
Joy participated in an exchange and received an assortment of lovely things from tatting-marie.
Axa chose this design by Jon to practice the daisy picot technique.
Jessica has worked on the rose motif from the vintage Priscilla book and it's one of those "looks pretty but is a stinker to tat" designs. In an effort to make it easier to tat, she's doing it in size 3 and she worked out a way to work 2 of the leaf shapes together and join them as they're worked. Now she has to do the 18 rose motifs around the perimeter. She working in large thread so that if she does do all of the pattern, she'll end up with a tablecloth instead of a large doily.
Marta is continuing her south sea journey with this bracelet done in black with passion fruit purple beads.
IsDihara was playing around with the fleur de lis edging and that led to this lovely surprise motif and she has plans to share the pattern soon. Meanwhile she has been test tatting Wanda's Hearts Honor Bookmark and really enjoying the process.
Diane has another row of her doily completed and had another chance to visit with Sue Anna for a road trip to meet Jane Eborall. I'm pea green with jealousy.
Fox tatted Jon's Rose Window and this pattern was smooth sailing from beginning to end. It's done in Lizbeth with yarnplayer's 'Stardate' and light turquoise beads from umintsuru.
Gina was surprised with a really awesome birthday gift received from Wendy at Umi n Tsuru. It's an amazing drawn thread hanky with a gorgeous tatted edging design by Susanne Schwenke that Wendy tatted in fine thread, size 40 or finer. Gina has plans to frame it along with the Amusement doily that Gina just completed.
Lily took a motif from this baby bonnet pattern that she found online and did it in Lizbeth Peacock blues with silver beads and silver earring hooks, white (Hakelgarn) with pastel pink seed beads and silver earring hooks, to make earrings. But you'll have to use your imagination because she has got pictures of it yet.
Martha was talking about a vintage hanky with an really wide edging that came up on ebay. Martha was the lucky purchaser of this awesome treasure and she posted pictures on her blog. She thought her new book needed another pattern and this looks like it will round things out nicely.

Motifs, Baby Booties, Earrings, Doily and Snowflakes
Michelle loves to get packages in the mail and was thrilled with this one from Fox. A friend is having a baby and she decided to tat the baby booties in the Anne Orr book. Lenore English did a simplified pattern that a lot of people have used and because it's only available through the Way Back Machine I just went into the archives and copied it before it's gone for good.
Marta is always on the hunt for gold threads which have their own peculiar characteristics like these used for earrings. This bauble is covered with tatting in matching blue thread like the colour of the south seas.
Now that Nancy has her project done we can see the tumbling block shape. It's tatted in Lizbeth size 20 thread. Each flower took about 20 minutes to make, and the flowers are the size of a U.S. quarter. It's about 13 inches wide 11 inches high and took 5 weeks to tat. Whew!
Ann found that this was the perfect pattern for working on when her little one was sick with a fever. The motif is No. 15 - Rosette of Tatting, from Old-Fashioned Tatting Patterns, Book 1, edited by Barbara Foster.
Fox tatted tatted Sahmura, from Jon's new book in Altin Basik and Yarnplayer's Stardate with pink and green beads for a scrumptious motif. Then she did it again in green rayon thread, but somehow missed a section so that it only has 5 sides. Here you can see then with the shuttles included for scale. Very skinny thread. When La Cosette didn't have the pansy shuttle Fox wanted, a plot was hatched with IsDihara, and suddenly a Pansy shuttle showed up in her mailbox and Fox has already put it to the test. Tatters are the best! From Argentina, Monica sent some green thread and a lovely little motif.
Orsi's silk threads have arrived and she had to at least try out a little of it making Csipkelelku's motif for a Christmas wreath.

Doilies, Necklaces, Earrings, Bookmarks, Butterflies and a Shawl
Joy had some of her items on consignment in a craft shop, but the only thing that went home with a patron was a necklace that was shoplifted. She's thinking that she might try Etsy again and see if that works.
Jessica has finished the third section for her shawl which is the end of the colour work. Now she has to contrive a joining edging and a border to be done in white. It's already lovely, but it's going to be stunning.
Marta has a new bracelet and pin set done in blue beads on a black sea. Ship Ahoy!
Marty tatted Celine, from Tatted Butterflies by Adelheid Dangela, Jade, from Sherry Pence's The Exquisite collection of Tatted Butterflies II and Curly Q, from the same book. All of which she plans to add to an ornament along with some other small butterflies. They've all been done with Sulky thread and are tiny precious wisps of lace.
Sherry has been busy dying lots and lots of thread in colours like Treebeard and Enchantment which is what was used on this butterfly.
