Doily, Edgings, Flowers, Bookmarks, Necklace, Bracelet, Earrings and an Ornament

Prabhjyotsaini picked up some size 10 thread from WalMart and to try it out she started the Spencer Doily from Georgia Seitz web site. It didn't take very long to realize it wasn't very good thread for tatting with, so she stopped after the 4th round.

Karen has seen several shuttles made from upcycled materials and she did her own version with a convenience store soda cup and a sewing machine bobbin. As you can see it works, but it was flimsy and hardly better than tatting with the bobbin by itself.

Stephanie Grace was doing some practicing and experimenting using a small flower motif and various colours of size 20 Lizbeth.She thought she would see if she could tat 25 of them in a week and she successfully met her goal. Some of the finished flowers ended up in a framed present for her mother's birthday before she got them scanned. Some of them were added to a tatted bookmark for a friend. Then she tatted some daisy flowers in Lizbeth Victorian Red and joined them to make a pendant. She tatted a bracelet in LizBeth size 20 in Juicy Watermelon and Lime Green, but she's not crazy about the colours.

IsDihara is showing us some of the new Lizbeth colours available, but you'll have to check her blog for all of them. Displayed on the hanky are Easter Eggs and Country Kitchen. Niagara Falls is the middle shade pictured on the lovely tatted doily.

Claudia tatted a pair of earrings from a pattern called mimosa in the Japanesse book Peikko by Takako Kitano which is both easy to tat and elegant. The second pair have beads added. Shae has also tatted more bookmarks. Jon Yusoff's Foldover bookmark in orange perle # 8 variegated thread and another using the first part of the same pattern in variegated lilac. The last bookmark was tatted in Camila variegated thread using a pattern from the internet but she doesn't have the designer's name.

Ingrid recently finished this delicate hanky edging which she can't upload to her blog because it has been removed. She has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and anticipates radiation treatment to possibly be followed by a second operation and chemo. I am certain she will appreciate your prayers even if you can't contact her through her blog. She is dropping out of the challenge for the moment because she doesn't think she will be able to tat until after her recovery.

Kat shows us the bookmarks that she received from Jon in The Tatting Forum's exchange.

Marty has been working on a Jan Stawasz pattern, split-ringing it into single rounds instead of individual motifs, but she got the stitch count backwards on the split rings. This lovely mass of delicate lace was cut to fix the problem and she's about half way around putting this row back on. Hmmm. I hate to say it, but it might have been faster to have tatted the individual motifs.

Sue finally finished this little 5 inch doily from an antique pattern done in Lizbeth size 40 Fruit Fizz thread. She also got this ornament from Elegant Tatting Patterns by Janet Carroll done in size 10 red and white thread for a friend who requested it.

Wanda finished the heart bookmark that she had been working on and it worked up pretty much the way she thought it would. Her problem now is to give it a name. So she is having a contest to name the bookmark.
