Bookmarks, Snowflakes, Motifs, Ornaments and Butterfly

Mary is still in the snowflake mood and tatted Efflorescence from the Tatted Snowflakes Collection by Jon Yusoff. The bookmark also from Jon Yusoff, called Interlocking Chains was aiming for Valentine's Day but came out more Spanish looking. Mary re-did it in pink and white for her daughter. Then she did another bookmark from a web page of free patterns in teal and white.

Stephanie Grace had been scared of this pattern from Annie's Attic; Ultimate Book of Tatted Doilies ever since she got the book, but she finally tried Fan #10 in DMC Cebelia #223 in size 30 although she messed up the center she kept going and has a finished fan. Another fan was tatted in LizBeth black and 670 with Cebelia white, all in size 20.

Linda was getting ready to tat Jane's latest TIAS but she discovered her lovely hand crafted Pop A Bobbin shuttle had been borrowed as a chew toy by the family fur ball.

Barbara tatted Posy from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior in Lizbeth thread size 20 #670, Victorian Red. She had some issues with joining the picots so she did it again. Now to stitch it onto a favourite shirt.

Fox has done her Abigail design in Cébélia #20 and Olympus # 40 again, this time with beads. My Grace Snowflake was tatted in Lizbeth teal #20 and Altin Basak without beads, but Fox admits that part if the reason she likes to use beads is that it covers up the joins.

Gina tatted the same ground motif this time with beads, but decided she liked it better plain after all. Then she did it in 2 colours, changing the small outer ring to a "puff picot". It's nice seeing a lot of variation on the same motif because it gives you a whole new perspective.

Kelly received a lovely hanging motif in a bangle from one of the Sylvia and had to try it for herself. She used a patten from the book Tatted Snowflakes by Vida Sunderman and the thread is size 20 HDT from Karey Solomon that she received at the Fringe event. Her friend Marg gave her a lovely white tatted motif. Kelly loves doing Mary Konior's patterns like the small tatted cross from the book Tatting with Visual Patterns that she did in DMC size 20 thread.

Laura was mostly doodling with thread when she designed this piece that was trying to be square. The next one really was square and she loves how it turned out. It will make a lovely mat or shawl. The last one has dimpled rings in the centre and edge with interwoven chains between them. Isn't it wonderful when lace, "just happens"?

Lily is still working from Tatting Jewelry by Lyn Morton. The Double-Thread Posy Collection calls for using two strands but she only used one for a dainty and delicate piece. Done in Lizbeth size 20 in Red Burst, each flower has its own set of colored seed beads.

Marty received an awesome exchange package with lots of goodies including a lovely SCMR butterfly and two beautiful ornaments made in size 10 thread and fastened to the ornaments with large pearl-headed pins.

  1. Hey, Sharon,
I DID use beads in your motif - actually picked two different colours of them to use in two locations. They are so well matched you missed them!

My thought was that instead of making very tiny joining picots, sometimes beads can "finish" a join rather nicely.

I was not very clear in expressing that thought! I need some sleep!
    Cheers,
    Fox : )
