Snowflakes, Motifs, Dragon and Hearts

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.

Ingrid tatted another of Jon's Quantiesque snowflakes. She left out some picots, but found that the original looked lacier.

Orsi has finshed her jacket which has a renaissance feel to it. I'm so gald to finally be able to see all of the pieces assembled, yoke, collar, sleeves and covered buttons. Such a lot of work for one truly amazing jacket.

Lily wants to know are yout right handed or left handed. She tatted these two designs one right handed and the other left handed. I'm right handed, but I learned to tat left handed to more easily show left handed tatters how to tat. It sure is challenging.

Corina tatted this gold coloured motif in Altin Basak 50.

Isabel was in the Spanish online class where they were experimenting with pearl tatting on Saturday. During the class she had an idea to do it with more than three shuttle or three threads and this was the result.

Katherinne tatted my Merry Christmas Snowflake in purple and Jon's Hearts in a Snowflake in white. She's wondering about stiffening. I don't generally stiffen anything. I pull the Christmas stuff out of storage, run it under the tap and pin it out on the blocking board and hang it back on the tree. Most stuff holds it's shape well enough for the season unless you put your tree up in November, as long as you remember to tat tight.

Linda has her work cut out for her. she's making 2 tatting embellinshed Christmas tree skirts and each one needs about 30 snowflakes. I did 31 for my recent book and that's a LOT of snow to tat.

Anne spent Sunday at Victoria and Albert Museum and got a chane to look through the textiles, but there was very little tatting, however all of it was done with very fine thread.

Fox has been tatting clunies again making this charming little heart design by Elisadusud. The she re-tatted the cord for one of the dragons becasue she noticed a little blip and went back to tatting clunies for the sunny gold heart. Then she started pulling her hair over her Dessign-Tat homework which isn't working out as anticipated, planned, drawn.

Martha has set herself a new challenge for this round, to tat pieces from other designers linke these 2 patterns from Spitzen Ideen by Susanne Schwenke which was sent to her by Ridgewoman, on account of the frequent use of block tatting in the designs.

Marty's sister dyed this "Mermaid" thread on a DMC size 80 and it was perfect for Anne Bruvold's dragon based on Debbie Arnold's Seahorse.
