I 've tried the new Blogger which required installing Google Chrome. I'm not impressed. If anything looks off, its probably as a result of the change. Let me know if there are any prolems.- Admin.
JB used Lizbeth #124 Spring Garden and #624 Raspberry Pink Med to tat Egg #5 from TATTED EASTER EGGS by Kirsten Wind Hansen. Day 7 of TIAS has turned the corner and beginning to look like something.

Frivole is engaged in some entredeux (between two) tatting like Mary Konior's, Corn & Chaff in Lizbeth Blue River Glades and Trellis made with what Mary Konior calls "Victorian Sets" (also called Rick Rack, ricrac or zig zag tatting - I prefer zig zag because it is more descriptive and more commonly understood by the average person) both patterns can be found in the book "Tatting in Lace".

Anita is following Take A Stitch Tuesday (TAST) and has added a tatted star to her feather stitch embroidery to create a falling star. Cute and clever!

Jess shows Mary Konior's Eightsome Reel tatted in her "Laila" HDT and Susan Fuller's Heart's Desire is tatted in size 80 Pink to Gray HDT. Iris Niebach's Cornelia from Tatted Doilies in size 80 of her blue/gray black experimental HDT.

Garyo tatted a motif from this recently published book by MORIMOTO Kazuko using Lisbeth size 40 Colour #641. She's really enjoying the book and she's delighted to find that she CAN tat 25 motifs in a year. Congratulations to a successful completion of the challenge. Her most recent motif in progress is another design by MORIMOTO Kazuko in pink and gray which she has found soothing to tat.

Jessica has finished round 2 of the tea cloth project and started the 3rd. She has plans to start it again in a nicer thread.

Marta has another beautiful earring set done.

Cindy is using the left over thread on her shuttles to tat hearts for Valentine's Day. Like the Tatted Heart from Handy Hands and Betsy Evans Small Tatted Heart. She thinks the one from a 1988 Workbasket looks a little lopsided and I've always thought the design looked unfinished. I would have added an outward facing ring at the bottom of the heart just to make a point.

Fox has been fixated on Zentangles but did manage to tat a little motif from the Tatted Easter Eggs book and promptly shattered one of the glass beads when she put a heavy glass pitcher on it to press it. She has been using up all of her size 20 thread and this is that last of it on one of the Tatted Eggs which is missing a couple of repeats because she ran out of thread. She tatted another egg, this one in Karey Solomon's HDT #30 Cebelia. Her blue pimpernel shuttle is covering up her current tatting. Recognize it?

Gina tatted Kim Millar's Lover's Knot pattern that she found in the Wayback Machine which includes a crochet braid. Kim developed a number of tatted designs which incorporated a row of crochet braid that adds a whole new dimension to the lace.

Marti has been tatting but not posting making snowflakes from Jon Yusoff's book Elegant Tatting Gems in red and green DMC size 80 tatting thread. She had some problems with one of the designs but the colours really make the designs pop.

Mica's beaded flower is a Jan Stawasz design tatted with DMC special cordonnette 80 in white and some random seed beads from Michaels.

Sue has an update on her challenge. 5 pairs of Christmas trees to fill her orders, one of my Valentine earrings tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Christmas red with clear glass beads and 3 more rainbow crosses so she has some in stock for when her mother-in-law wants more. Then a bracelet for her mother-in-law's birthday next week is the Wandering Blooms bracelet by Dawn McLaughlin tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Royal Blue. The tablecloth for her husband is progressing but working without a pattern she has some empty circles forming an interesting design element. Needing a change of colour she tried this doily with a size 10 Aunt Lydia's crochet thread in Passionata.

Wanda has Day 8 of TIAS done and it's looking remarkably like a billy goat at this stage. She made this cute little bell from a free pattern that yarnplayer has available. She was given Tatted Snowflakes Collection by Jon Yusoff for Christmas and this is Twirly done in Lizbeth Caribbean and while she likes the colour it doesn't do the pattern justice.

JB began working her way through the "Tatted Easter Eggs" book by Kirsten Wind Hansen and here is Egg #1 made in Lizbeth #127 Butterfly Breeze, size 20.

Mariya tatted Nancy Tracy's Tatted Christmas tree although when she made a mistake she was going to stop, but her husband persuaded her to continue. It still looks OK even if it isn't exactly what the pattern called for. Pretty Tatted Kitty is also in green and we'll just all assume that there was left over green thread on the shuttle and not something weird like Mariya was tatting cats for aliens. Her TIAS is progressing and maybe we'll have something with wings, or legs or will we? Here is Mariya's first pattern created when she was trying out some new thread. And here are all of her earlier attempts.

Lelia use Flora size 20 colour 11 to make this motif and Lizbeth size 40 Colour 644 from Patti Duff's Mini Tats for the next. The butterflies are from the back of the Starlit Tatting Shuttle package. The little doodles are fun and nice to use up left over thread on the shuttles.

Jess has finished Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel Glass Mat in her own Rainbow-licious HDT.

Heather's latest experiment is a set of blue and purple variegate earrings with beads using thread size 20 from Germany on a simple and cute pattern by Nancy Tracy.

Fox used Lizbeth #40 in Tatskool's Ginger and Clove HDT from her Spice collection to tat the Regency Doily designed by Karey Solomon with a modicum of beads. Also tatted was this egg motif from Tatted Easter Eggs by Kirsten Wind Hansen in the same thread.

Kelly is making progress of the table runner and an edging for a hanky for the exchange piece for the Fringe.

Sherry has day 7 of TIAS done and she's seeing some kitty qualities in the tatting.

Tattabugg has created an interesting necklace and earring set to enter in the fair. Here its shown as a set and a detailed shot of the necklace.

JB has reversed 2 of the split rings in Jane's TIAS and she's hoping she doesn't regret it later.

Frivole has been playing with the edging from her previous post and would up with a bracelet. She might play with it come mare and make a wider cuff from it.

Jess tatted up Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel in some of her Rainbow-licious so Diane could see what it looked like.

Heather had a very good response to the Apprenticeship Fair after enticing the students with lots of interesting samples of things like Anne Bruvold's Minor Norwegian Dragon, earrings, hair clips and lots of little butterflies and mice as giveaways.

Marta has created a necklace and earring set of shimmering dew drops glistening on a spiderweb. Moon white stones set in jet black lace.

Cindy couldn't resist doing another bookmark using her favourite pattern in Lizbeth Island Breeze. Since the thread matched some felt she had, she added a tatted motif to a needlekeeper. The she did the Peacock Heart, in size 20 Lizbeth Tropical Punch for another one. Now she has lots of needlekeepers and maybe an early start on Christmas gifts.

Fox is home from the Big Apple and has Day 6 of TIAS done but it looks like jet lag or lack of sleep has her thinking of Sponge Bob.

Orsi has posted the instructions for assembling her angel pattern.

Sherry has day 5 of TIAS done but noticed that she missed a shot chain between the "legs".

StephanieGrace woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep so she thought she'd tat a cross like this one in LizBeth, Country Side, Size 20. So she tatted one with a shuttle and ball in LizBeth Carousel and the "matching" Antique Blue Med.

Doily, Bookmarks, Edging, Motifs, Necklaces, Earrings, Heart, TIAS and Dragon

Frances has some new tatting completed. The Merriment doily and the foldover bookmark, both designed by Jon Yusoff. Her first Milward shuttle and the little hook it came with are shown here with a hanky edging #6622 from Traditional Tatting Patterns done in Coats size 100. After learning how to tat she decided to make edgings for a christening robe and started on edging No. 52 on page 22 in 'Tatting Patterns' in size 100 Coats and it was done in time for the christening in 1991 of her sister's baby. There are detailed pictures on her blog.

Jess hand dyed thread in a combination called Rustic/Blue and used it for the cross from Tatting Patterns and Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson.

Garyo is finding that like most of us when we're tired, we wind shuttles, get to work, and then find mistakes. The only thing worse, is finding a mistake made waaaay back.

Jessica is tackling the large tea cloth in the Priscilla book also in the Tatting Patterns book edited by Julia Sanders. A number of people have tried this pattern and everyone I know of has had some issues with it.

Marta has a lovely new necklace and earring design ready in luscious honey colour.

Diane had to try Heart's Desire one more time and she joined the small free ring to the edge ring closest to it, which seemed to work for her.

Michelle has day 5 of the TIAS done ans she doesn't have a clue as to what it is, but she's enjoying tatting it. Kersti's bookmark was interesting and fun once she decided to follow the pattern instead of trying it her own way.

Wanda tatted Paprika the dragon with birds and butterflies and flowers to add to an insulated cup for her grandson. He likes it so much he hasn't used anything else since he got it. She's also had time to tat day 5 of TIAS and she's as mystified as everyone else as to what it could be.

Christmas Tree, TIAS, Edgings, Scarf and Motifs

JB has decided it's time to join the fun. She had to give Jane's new tree ornament a whirl and of course she's working on Jane's TIAS. Day 5 might be a handle or a tail.

Frivole is still working from DMC Tatting and this is edging 11. She's done most of the 1 pass edgings, but this one is 2 rows and is very pretty. I wonder if it could be modified with more modern techniques to be done in one row?

Garyo has decided that there are just so many bookmarks she needs and now she wants a larger project to work on like this
scarf she tatted 5 years ago.

SunshineCraft previously showed a set of unfinished motifs and here's the first one finished. It's a medallion from the flower garden cluster in the Tatter's Treasure Chest. She likes the little sprays of leaves which she thinks gives the whole a vintage feel.

Bree bought a very large hanky 18 inches square and she's making an edging in Lizbeth size 20 Fuchsia to go around it. She plans to use it for a table centre piece.

Motifs, Eagle, TIAS, Doily and Hearts

Frivole has tatted another motif from DMC's Tatting, although now that it's blocked it looks like one of her centre rings is off.

Mariya tatted Nancy Tracy's Eagle and now she's looking for a way of using her tatting so that it doesn't just lie in a box. Day 5 of TIAS is getting curiouser and curiouser.

Garyou tatted a doily out of the Japanese tatting book published last month.

Diane thought her rendition of Susan Fuller's Heart's Desire was a little off but all it really needed was some blocking. Today's version, also in Raspberry Frappe thread, looks perfect.

Lyn is joining the challenge and recently she has done lots of tatted butterflies for decoration, a whole alphabet and she has joined in the TIAS fun.

Mariya decided she need some practice on split rings and did this double shamrock in a row variation by Georgia Seitz.

Laurette tatted Graciella from Tatted Doilies by Iris Niebach in Lizabeth 642 Lilac Medium and 154 Wildflower Garden.

Jess tatted Rosa Frivola by Mary Konior, from Tatting with Visual Patterns, but she doesn't know how to get it 3D. Then once she has it in the right shape she wants some way to attach it to a baby cap so that it can be easily removed for washing. Any ideas?

Bonnie has another UIU done, Jon Yusoff's Two-by-Two Bookmark made using size 20 Lizbeth thread in Spring Garden and Leaf Green Med.

Cindy has been tatting Irene Woo's Butterfly Heart in both Lizbeth Size 20 Island Breeze & Size 40 Mocha Swirl

Diane was working on Susan Fuller's Heart's Desire in size 40 Lizbeth, color #157, Raspberry Frappe and didn't notice anything wrong until she was done.

Fox created a heart pattern in honour of Misha last year, and now thanks to Margaret and the TIAS she thinks she can re-create the pattern.

Gina has another Ginko leaf done, but thinks she may have to do it again to get it looking right.

Frivole has decided it's time to join in the fun. One of her favourite vintage books is "Tatting" from the DMC Library, edited by Thérèse de Dillmont and here are a couple of the square motifs from it. The one on the left is tatted in size 10 DMC Babylo and the one on the right in Lizbeth 20. She has also uploaded a video on SSSRs.

Mariya has day 4 of TIAS done but misread the pattern, probably because she's in the middle of exams.

Jess thought this motif from Tatting Patterns and Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson is called a star but looks more like a heart to her. It's in some Lizbeth 40 that she dyed in pink and purple.

Ginny has another snowflake from the Knots newsletter, it is the top flake but the directions call it the bottom flake. Then there is another one by Denise Munoz, from Snowflake Roses it is number 5.

Axa used one of the alphabet patterns from Tatting Patterns by Julia Saunders to tat this letter A and found that rings and chains don't always make the letter.

Fox tatted Irene Woo's heart again in one colour with a few vintage beads her Mom saved for her. The left over thread went into a Celtic Pattern by Rosemary Peel done in some HDT by Karey Solomon.

Sherry has day 4 of TIAS done and her guess today is that it's a fancy bikini top. Definitely not for double DD.

StephanieGrace is finally able to post pictures again, just in time to show her progress on TIAS. Her day 1 was a casualty of charging in to do before learning the technique. By day 4 everything worked out in both needle and shuttle and now she knows why shuttle tatters love dead spiders. Both samples are done in LizBeth threads, size 20, the one on the right is needle tatted in Pink Cocoa and the one on the left is shuttle tatted in light turquoise and and variegate with spring in the name.

Wendy is finally getting around to posting her package from the Secret Santa exchange which included a tatted mini doily Lorena Finnerty adapted from Susanne Schwenke's 'Musterbeschreibung'.

Mariya has just discovered the challenge and she wants to join. Her first entry is Nancy Tracy's tatted pawprint for which she used Iris thread. She also discovered Jane's TIAS and she has day 3 done.

Laurette has joined the challenge again and has tatted the 10th Day of December snowflake from 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn.

Ginny has more snowflakes to show. Jon Yusoff's Quantiesque Snowflake and Kira's Star by Birgit Phelps.

Garyou tatted Marilee's Carnival design from Tatted Jewelry and used it as a bag charm. She was looking for a motifs to tat and join together and make something large, but this one from Crochet and Tatting Lace by YOKOHAMA Kayomi wasn't what she was looking for. Here are a couple of motifs with he favourite GR8 shuttle.

Marta has created an amazing necklace with a large stone surrounded by tatting in an elaborate setting.

Bonnie is on a mission to Use It Up. There's no point in saving stash for a special occasion that never comes and leaving family members to get rid of our treasures. So Bonnie is de-stashing and using her supplies beginning with Kersti's Floral bookmark done in Lizbeth Tropical Punch size 40 and the middle one is Sea Island Citrus also in size 40.

Claudia has day 3 of TIAS done along with some tatted crosses. The Easy Tatted Cross by Rachael Mohler, and from the Book Tatted Bookmarks by Lene Bjorn, Maria tatted with DMC perle cotton thread 8, in white and the last one Camilla tatted with Clea cotton variegated thread.

Fox loves this pattern by Julie Patterson in the HDT from Jess which was a perfect break from dragons. This one is done and finished correctly, so now she has 3 ready to wing their way off to The Big Apple. She's discovered that while findings appeal to her, combining them with just the right design can be a challenge, but this one makes a perfect bookmark. Frivole has diagrammed Irene's pattern and Fox couldn't resist giving it a try both with the solid colour inside and again with it outside for 2 totally different looks.

Gina tatted the ginko leaf by Yarnplayer in an unlabeled Lizbeth size 20 thread, but one of her half moon rings turned back while blocking.

Martha picked up Tatted Butterflies by Adelheid Dangela at random and tatted the Elise butterfly which has a block tatted wing section that looks a lot like the bookmark she did previously. The colorful one is Lizbeth Autumn Spice plus a Manuela orange and the pale green one is Opera.

Michelle has her TIAS day 3 done and still no idea as to what she is tatting. Here are 2 bookmarks done. The heart is done in the Brazilian thread which is kind of slippery.

Sherry has day 3 of TIAS done although for a minute she almost forgot how to do an SCMR.

Stacy has the Spinning Wheel Glass Mat from Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns done in Lizbeth #113 Jewels size 20.

Tattabugg has day 3 of TIAS done. It's squarish and has beads coming, but what is it? Her daughter found this dragon which has been named Arsenic or "Snicky" for short and now she's on the lookout for more dragons.

Wanda also has day 3 of TIAS done and she's working in Lizbeth Victorian Red #670 size 20. She's working on this snowflake with beads and she'll post the results when she's done.

Jess tatted these snowflakes from Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems but forgot to post them. Top left is Lizbeth size 40 Charcoal and Medium Purple, top right is some size 60 that she dyed and the bottom one is Lizbeth size 40 Azalea Md. and Seagreen Light. Then it's finished up with Jane's TIAS.

Ginny shows us some of the snowflakes she has tatted from the 24 Snowflakes in tatting by Lene Bjorn. In the rings on the top row are day 20 and day 4, the next row is is Day 5 and Day 18 and the bottom row is Day 10 and Day 19. In the next picture the two on the right are Jon Yusoff patterns; on the top is Magic Moment snowflake and the bottom one is Rose Window. On the left is Karey Soloman's Pattern, the bottom is Joelle Paulson, Le Flocon Frivole. Then there are two of Rozella Linden's (Ruth Perry) snowflakes; the top one is Snowflake 2008, and the bottom one is Celtic snowflake 2006. The next one with a ring is by Jane Eborall, followed by another by Jane with a ring in the centre.

Heather was given a hand stitched origami bag and since she uses it for her tatting projects she added a tatted edging and a hexagonal medallion on each of the flaps in a matching size 80 variegate thread from Germany. Here are some of the typical supplies she carries.

Patrycja lost her favourite bookmark and decided it was time for a new one. The pattern is from Magbod and the thread is size 20 Aida that she hand dyed.

Linda made the teapot block as a donation for a fellow tatter who had a stroke. The top hearts from patterns by Patti Duff. On the bottom the pink heart is a pattern from Mark Myers and the red/purple heart is from Victats. All the hearts are tatted with Lizbeth size 40. A Hens and Chicks edging tatted with DMC size 10 makes a nice doily for the teapot to sit on.

Claudia has her first TIAS started. Day 1 and day 2, I wonder how many more?

Fox tatted this little motif, designed by Jennifer Williams focusing on her technique before she starts the dragons. Then she went on to an Iris Niebach pattern. She used Lizbeth#40 for the bodies of the dragons. Dragons design by Anne Bruvold tatted in Coral Reef #40 by Tatskool and #40 Lizbeth. A Mary Konior snippet to finish off some thread.

Gina has finished the pineapple doily which worked out to be 11 inches square in size 20 thread.

Katherinne has been working on her Neapolitan doily, named for her colour choice of pink white and brown. And here is the finished lace, which looks good enough to eat.

Mica pulled out a UFO and finished it. Mary Konior's Black Magic in black and white which are adventurous colours when you are accustomed to working in ecru.

Orsi has posted the pattern for her angel and she will add another post showing how to assemble it.

Sherry has day 2 of TIAS done and she's taking a guess at what it might be. An owl maybe?

StephanieGrace received Marilee's Tatted Jewelry and started right in on Keyed Up done in LizBeth 662 and 605, both include size 11/0 Czech glass seed beads. The green one that you see half of is in colour 144. Then one is in Color 109. She omitted the top ring because she thought it looked nicer until she realized it was there to hold the jump ring.

Tattabugg has day 2 of TIAS done and her only guess so far is something square. She has two strips of her tatted purse done and only eight more to go.

Vanessa is also working on TIAS and had day one completed.

Frances tatted Festiva, from Judith Connors Creative Tatting in silver with a slight modification of 9 rings to make a great Christmas ornament. The earrings in white were done with rings instead of beads so she could wear them at the shop She also made one in green with red beads as a Christmas wreath. Mary Konior's Bell Flowers were done as a set for her friend in red along with a leaf in green so that she could use them for decoration on her 'Red Hat' outfits.

Ginny has been working on 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn so that next year she can have a tree in white snowflakes.

Julie found this delicate piece of lace in her travels and couldn't resist it in spite of it's damaged corners and rust spots. Being busy doesn't leave much time for tatting anything except some flowers for the little lady. More tatting adorns the little one's shirt. These doilies are more treasures she discovered while travelling.

Jessica is reworking her diagrams using a new program and is looking for some test tatters for a design to be used a the Shuttlebirds workshop.

SunshineCraft's tatting spree resulted finished off a clover doily pattern by Eileen Stafford. Inspired by the header of the 25 motif challenge blog, she made a medallion, a snowflake, a heart, a bookmark, a butterfly, a pair of earrings and a small bit of tatting, but now she has lots and lots of ends to hide.

IsDihara shares a picture of her recent projects; tatting to cover a lavender ball, the Broomstick Tatted Bookmark by Martha Ess in Lizbeth 20 Autumn Apple Pie #169 and a half-finished heart tatted in Lizbeth 20 Purple Iris Fusion #162.

Cindy picked up the right size bead and took another stab at Marilee's teardrop pendant, but it still didn't work out quite right. She tried it again adjusting her tension, but it still isn't quite right, but it is better.

Diane has finished the edging she wants to use on a purse. She wants something subtle that blends in with the fabric and this looks perfect. She started the same edging in Lizbeth olive green #678 size 20 so it's quite a bit larger.

Fox has found that DMC size 30 thread is a better choice for sewing edgings on to socks that sewing thread especially when she has to sew onto the fold of the socks. She's also discovered that tatting the second edging of a pair takes discipline. The first one is fun, the second one is drudgery but here's the pair done. She also shows us the needle she uses and she wonders if other people have trouble using self threading needles with size 30 thread.

Gina is tatting the Pineapple Square pattern by Camelia Crapo which is in a back issue of KNOTS.

Kelly is still hobbling around, but being forced to sit down does make for more tatting time. She's tatting a motif from Tatting Patterns and Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson and joining them together, but she's not sure what it will eventually be. It's amazing how much finished tatting is gracing her coffee table.

Martha has a new favorite bookmark which is actually a piece of Edging No. 21 from Die Schiffchen-Spitzen by Eleonore Endrucks-Leichtenstern, with block tatting of course.

Mica is finally able to show is the large project she was working on that was started in 2009. It's a large centre piece done in DMC Cordonnet 100 and measures just over 14 inches in diameter and took nearly a whole ball of thread.

Michelle has her first day of TIAS done and she has no idea what it is.

Orsi has the wings finished on her angel, and finally the finished angel with the head. She plans to make more for next year.

Sherry has had a bad year with a failing hard drive that lost her most recent book, but she's looking forward to teaching at Shuttlebirds this year and has posted her first day of TIAS.

Stephanie Grace has been doing some freestyle tatting to try out new threads. The first doodle is done with LizBeth color 625. Lizbeth color 665 was doodled into a heart shape and the last one is Flopsy the butterfly in LizBeth 20, Color 135, a pattern by Jane Eborall, which may need some blocking to coax it into shape.

Tattabugg has also started the TIAS challenge and her is day 1.

Wanda has added the pattern for her 2010 snowflake to her sidebar.

Motif, Edgings and Snowflakes

Fox used Yarnplayer's Lola HDT on this design from DMC Festive Tatting. Then she went on to work with a very picot-y pattern that just wasn't working for her. Bitty baby socks need edgings which has created this edging frenzy.

Michelle's sister commissioned her to make snowflakes for her little tree and These patterns are from Decoromana and Elizabeth Zipay. Frivole's Stellar snowflake is done in Lizbeth Blue Ice. Followed by Frivole's CrissCross Snowflake, although she may have to change how she uses her picot gauge to get the results she wants. Sally MacGill's snowflake was also done in Blue Ice photographed with coins for perspective.

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.

Jess has a new camera and has been taking pictures of some recent tatting from Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems. She used Lizbeth size 40 Lemon, Azalea Md., and Lime Green. The pictures taken inside didn't do the motifs justice, so she took them again outside.

Heather has done a tutorial on how to hide thread ends in a ring only pattern.

Axa used an Emmy Liebert motif to make a border around the neck of a shirt. She wanted it narrower at the back and wider at the front so she used size 20, 40, 60,80 and 100 Anchor Artiste thread to form a wonderful collar.

Garyou made a lot of snowflakes from Jon Yusoff's Tatted Snowflakes Collection for her New Years cards. The Milky Ways are too large for New Year Cards, the larger one is made with Lisbeth #20, and small one is with #40. Sweet Rose was tatted in Lisbeth #40 Col.635. Alladin with a SCMR on a split ring was a bit of a challenge done in Lisbeth #40, Col.641. Circle of Crowns is tatted in Lisbeth #20. Floret is a pretty little motif also done in Lisbeth #20. Her favourite is Twirly done in size 40 thread, the middle one in size 20. She has plans for a large knitting project, but it calls for 8 stitch markers and she only has 5 - so she tatted 3. Ingenious!

Julie tatted these snowflake designs by Sally Magill, the first one is the Kim Picot Snowflake and the other is the MHC Snowflake, both done in size 20 white LizBeth. Kira's Star designed by Birgit Phelps is tatted in LizBeth size 20 "Snow White" thread. The SCMR Snowflake is by Sally Magill. The extra thread on her shuttles is used to make little tatted rosettes, which are tied on a hair clip. Marilee Rockley's "Arches" doily is being tatted in some vintage Clark's size 30 color 42, an ivory color. It was progressing really well although she didn't like the thread, and then she noticed a mistake that was going to result in cutting it off and doing the round over, or making peace with it and calling it finished. In an effort to document and share the many lovely pieces done by her grandmother, she's decided to share them here. This is her grandmother's Star Doily.

SunshineCraft tatted Lisa Reichert's dragonfly, worked in chunky size 2 thread hand dyed by her kids.

Ann has found that home schooling hasn't left a lot of free tatting time. She did manage to start testing a tatting pattern she is attempting to write up and an unfinished motif - she BELIEVES is part of a vintage pattern.

Bree has decided that her Christmas tree needs more tatted snowflakes. She's tatted a lot, but given them away, so now she plans to tat 100 different snowflakes before next Christmas beginning with these 5.

Cindy had an evening to try Marilee's teardrop pendant, although using different materials made it not quite work as anticipated. Michelle's snowflake earrings and pendant are such pretty tatting with such tiny thread.

Diane is test tatting an edging from Tatting: Second Edition, Designs From Victorian Lace Craft edited by Jules & Kaethe Kliot before she does it in HDT. Now she's working with Yarnplayer's Knitty Gritty. The edging is working out very pretty in this colour.

Fox has found that Mary Konior's Marguerite design is marvellous for Mini Boss' socks. One misplaced bead on this DMC, Festival Tatting motif tatted in Zwicky silk from Krystle with Delica Beads from Tatting Fool. Frivole's new Criss-Cross pattern is tatted in vintage Coates #30, from Kelly at Tatfully Yours. Another snowflake from the DMC Festival Tatting book, finishing off the Coates #30 and using some of Yarnplayer's gorgeous Lola - #40, sent to her by Suneeti. Anne Bruvold's dragon was tatted in Altin Basak #50 and Lizbeth #40 and it's the best one yet.

Gina has been tatting rosettes again and has plans for them when she takes Karen's Embroider, Embellish, Create class.

Isa has been tatting name bracelets for her nieces and her daughter.

Martha has always been interested in the history of tatting and really old patterns, so she launched a new blog just for that kind of information.

Followed by the little fragment called Anniversary Motif in Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns with some frosty blue seed beads. Maria from Lene Bjørn's Tatted Bookmarks--cross-shaped is tatted in size 10 Lizbeth in Christmas colours. Spinning Wheel Glass Mat from Mary Konior is being worked in Lizbeth Jewels variegated thread.

StephanieGrace begins the New Year by posting a picture of the tatting she sent out with her Christmas cards. Not being in the mood to tat anything in particular she just picked up her tatting and went with the flow to tat these designs. Then she tatted around a snowflake charm and while there were some things she didn't like about it, she's going to try it again. She decided one of the doodles she was working on looked like and anchor and was a perfect embellishment for a nautical card. Jane has another TIAS in the works and here's day 1.

Sue is ready for another go round with the challenge, beginning with an assortment of tattings and a wonderful Asters hanky edging from Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns in size 40 Lizbeth Purple Iris Fusion.

Tattabugg's first project for the year is the Tatted Antique Wrist Bag made with size 12 black pearl cotton and green seed beads.

Wanda tatted this little motif just to close out the year done in Lizbeth Blue Ice #163 in size 40.

Stacy figures that with all of her recent tatting she has finished her first 25 motifs including these Cross "Hope" bookmarks done in Christmas colours. The leaves that were sprinkled on her Thanksgiving table looked wonderful, but she can't find the picture she took of it.

Heather has created a very simple hairclip with a tatted button and she shares the instructions with us.

Marta shows us her plum cake earrings made in December.

Patrycja has more snowflakes done. This fluffy flake is from Lene Bjorn's "24 Snowflakes in Tatting". This one by Magbod was actually done in October. This snowflake that adds zigzag tatting for texture is her 24th and it also comes from Lene Bjorn's book.

SunshineCraft is fixated on flowers and found these pearly flowers from Tatting Lace by Sumi Fujishige done in Anchor variegated perle cotton 8 were perfect for her cravings.

IsDihara tatted Kira's Star, designed by Birgit Phelps and tatted in Lizbeth® 20 Snow White #601 as a Secret Santa gift.

Linda completed a flag block for an international quilt that will be sold and the funds will help the victims of the Sendai Earthquake. Included among the flags is a tatted eagle, pattern from Nancy Tracy.

Bonnie tatted the Slalom Bookmark from Martha Ess' book Playing with Picots for her Christmas exchange

Alba Alicia is addicted to tatting this bracelet pattern in a variety of colours with different beads. It looks good in all of them.

Claudia received her InTatters exchange package from Anne Bruvold which included an assortment of lovely tatted snowflakes.

Diane's partner from the Tatting Forums Christmas exchange was Patti Duff who sent her an amazing package including a tatted lanyard.

Fox was inspired by Marty, so she pulled out some DMC #80 in red and green and her Myra Piper booklet to tat these designs. There are actually three different beads in this frilly piece, where she used JK's instead of rings at the top. Tatted in #30 Cébélia thread. She received a sample of Jess' HDT to try out and she used it in in a small Konior design paired up with some Majestic #80 green. The edging incorporates roll tatting which she hasn't done for a while.

Isa shows us some of the tatting she has done for Christmas including an assortment of tatted brooch names for her nieces and aunts worked from her own design.

Kathy found Lynn Morton's 'Hearts and Flowers' pattern was a perfect fit for the centre of the flower motif on this table runner. The Victorian lady with the tatted over skirt is a perfect complement to it.

Michelle did a lot of tatting in December including this little angel from Anne Bruvold,although she wanted a skinnier skirt so she modified it. Then there was the 3D ornament she saw on Jolimama's blog, but when she tried it, the results weren't quite the same, although it looked round it came out more like a marshmallow. She participated in the InTatters exchange and received some fantastic gifts, including a wee doll pincushion decorated with tatting. She tried out another beaded wreath, but it came out somewhat lumpy. Then there were lots of little flakes that she made for her sister. Margaret sent her a remarkable tatted cross, so now she has a tatted bookmark of her own.

Sue tried Anne's SSSR angel using split rings, but somehow it didn't quite work out.

Wanda has been tatting angels using her own design and sending them off to their new homes.

Alba Alicia is re-joining the challenge and has several motifs already done. The little heart with beads shown with Barbie is for perspective and is a gift for her niece. Jon's daisy picot snowflake was a great way to master this technique.

Stacy tatted the "Hope" cross pattern available on In Tatters in size 20 Lizbeth thread, in white and Christmas green mix #601 and #152. Anne's Dragon is tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Black and Falling Leaves, colours #604 and #100. She couldn't make up her mind whether to tat a wreath or a snowflake so she tatted Jon Yusoff's Hearts in a Snowflake pattern in Christmas colors size 20 Lizbeth in Christmas Red and Leaf Green medium #671 and #684.

Heather tatted some tassel angels from a pattern in the Big Book of Tatting by Darlene Polachic. The wings and halo are tatted separately and then glued onto a small tassel with an added bow for a quick and easy Christmas decoration.

Axa is getting ready for the holidays with this Ruth Perry Celtic Christmas angel.

Jessica had an opportunity to stop by Lacis and she took some pictures to share with us of the lace displays. The square motif is the same one she is using for her shawl.

Marta created this unique flower bookmark for a competition. Look at the artistry and the techniques involved! Some broken strands of coral beads have been re purposed into a wonderful necklace and bracelet set.

Patrycja has added to her collection of snowflakes with a variation of one by Lene Bjorn. She already did this next snowflake in October, but she did it again. The interesting wreath shaped snowflake is a design by Magbod as is the next one which is quick to do. The stitch count has been included on the picture of this snowflake to provide the pattern that was requested. The first three rows of a doily pattern makes a very pretty snowflake. This 20th snowflake design is also shown with stitch count for the pattern. The 21st design is called Snow Sypie and Patrycja has plans to tat more snowflakes in the new year.

Nancy participated in an exchange and shows us the results. Bright red snowflake ornaments for the tree, a covered ball and a Christmas tree.

SunshineCraft tatted Jane Eborall's Large Fancy Butterfly in DMC Cebelia along with a large number of beads. After dealing with all those beads she went on to do Jon's Adan snowflake from Elegant Tatting Gems in heavenly blue Cebelia thread. She had a craving to work with SCMR's so she went straight to the Butterflies from the GR8 brothers. Nancy Tracy's tatted magnolia makes a lovely flower in full or in bud. The chains curve around in front on one side in in back on the other making clever overlapping petals.

Linda has created a Christmas card in tatting.

Cindy tatted the Wheel of Nine Rings from Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn in size 30 Red Cebelia thread with large beads in the centre to make a lovely Christmas Poinsettia. That finishes another 25 Motifs for her. Time for another round.

Claudia was the happy winner of Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems and so far she has tatted 2 of the lovely snowflakes. These small motifs are from the book Minitats, by Patti Duff done in Anchor perle thread # 8 in white. That makes another 25 done for Claudia.

Diane just finished the edging for this linen hanky, done in size 30 Fincrochet.

Fox tatted a Monica Hahn design in Milford #40. The dragons were mounted on suitable backgrounds so that itty bitty fingers and superfine threads didn't result in massive destruction. The mail brought some charming greetings from global friends. Pink #50 Altan Basak looks good in this design by Karey Solomon. The Wheel of Nine Rings from Christmas Angels and Other Tattings by Monica Hahn is a design that she had done before, but she did it again using up thread she had already wound on some bobbins. The pattern by Julie Patterson was done in pink #80 and the blue, #40 and in spite of the different sizes it came out really nice. There was still thread on the shuttles so she tatted a Mary Konior design. Regal by Frivole was tatted with a variegated thread mixed with Milford violet and blue Swarovski crystals for truly majestic lace.

Gina hasn't had much time for tatting recently, but she did get this teapot bookmark done. The rocking horse from Pam Palmer's Tatting Treats Two was something that she did years ago for an exchange but always wanted to make one for herself, so this was the year.

Martha traditionally gives her coworkers a Christmas ornament and decided her Big Sister Angel from Playing with Picots would just about fit the bangles if worked in size 30.

Mary created a Holiday Bracelet and Earring Set in Red, White and Green as a special request.

Mica completed this little star made with Kreinik braid no. 4 and it's very sparkly.

Sue tatted these snowflakes from a design she found online in Lizbeth size 40 Blue Ice both with and without beads. Then sh tried Mary's butterfly again in size 80 DMC cotton and a metallic blending filament, but the filament looked prettier on the spool. The Christmas earrings from Linda Davies pattern were tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Christmas Green with glass beads.

Wanda managed to get a few snowflakes done. Three of these are in Lizbeth white size 20, the other two are in Lizbeth Blue Ice size 40.

IsDihara has been tatting One Shuttle Glamour Earrings from Tatted Jewelry by Marilee Rockley. She used Lizbeth size 20 Rootbeer Float, #150 and Sea Island Citrus, #161 with size 11 seed beads, 6mm and 4mm round beads and Swarovski crystallized 4mm bicones.

Carol has been busy with Christmas tatting. Lizbeth Blue River Glades was used for the pendant "Shuttle Motif", a pattern by Mark Myers and the earrings are by Jennifer Williams. The Christmas tree earrings are a pattern by Brenda Bonilla that was in an old Knots Newsletter. She did them in solid green and tried the very pretty variegated Lizbeth thread Christmas Green Mix #152 and she's not sure which she likes best. Lizbeth thread, Autumn Spice #136 was used for Yarnplayer's Tatted Leaf pattern which looks great in this thread. The Celtic Motif tatted as the pendant is a pattern by Rosemarie Peel from Tatting for Pleasure.

Diane received a lovely case decorated in tatting that had a hand carved Sea Turtle Shuttle inside.

Fox was valiantly tatting the dragon in pink but the vintage thread just kept breaking so she had to set it aside until she could figure out what to do with it. The solution was to give it purple wings.

Orsi has perfected her snowflake design and the best part is that she doesn't have to string the beads on before she starts.

Tattabugg has posted a picture of a necklace being offered as a giveaway on Alana's blog in pretty Christmas red.

Wanda is getting ready for Christmas and one of the gifts she created was a coaster with tatting in it done in size 40 Lizbeth Blue Ice #163 using one of Wanda's own patterns.

Jess tatted a section of Jon Yusoff's Baiduri from Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems in size 40 Lizbeth Charcoal to make earrings. Then she added antique copper Pearl Ex to Mod podge and then painted the entire piece. You can see the difference the Mod Podge treatment made to the earring on the left.

Heather asked people to share their "best ever tatting project" and these were some of the responses. Diane share a spinning wheel glass mat done in Juicy Watermelon. Michelle didn't take pictures of some of her best pieces, but she shared her third favourite piece, a spectacular doily. Alma shared a bouquet of 3d flowers and Shannon showed one of her earlier motifs that is technically perfect.

Patrycja's 9th snowflake is a design by Magbod which reminds her of an atom. Number 10 is called "sweet rosochata" and number 11 comes from Renulka.

Nancy tatted Elegance by Lyn Morris from the book Tatting Patterns in Lizbeth size 20 Ocean Turquoise Lt which will look pretty on someone's tree. The next one in Christmas red and green is called 'Loop-di-Loop' by Hatmut Haas from the freepatterns web site.

Sunshinecraft thinks this motif from 'Beads and Beads Tatting 1' by Mituko Ikuta is more interesting than attractive because the design seem a bit dated.

Fox in an effort to escape the inevitable need to make with the pink dragon, has instead tatted one of Monica Hahn's designs with clunies. It was necessary so that she didn't get rusty. In a further effort to procrastinate she started another design, which turns out to be a Susanne Schwenke pattern from one of the two books she bought and managed to discover something she hadn't be doing quite the way she ought.

Kat is still waiting for the baby to arrive and filling in time with Christmas tatting so that it's ready to give.

Marty is tatting Jon Yusoff's, Elegant Tatting Gems in order and she's doing them all in red and green DMC size 80 tatting thread, except for the one she did in Lizbeth size 20 pink and blue variegate. Enchanting, elegant and endearing.

Heather has scouted out some very simple snowflake designs that beginners can use.

Julie has also tatted Mary Konior's Posy with beads because it's such a pretty pattern and adding beads makes an adorable Christmas design.

Jessica has finished tatting the motif for her belt in yarn and shows it together with the first sample done in size 10 for comparison.

Marta used a matte smooth gray pebble from the river in this piece making an interesting and special necklace.

Patrycja is tatting more snowflakes. The first one is by Renulka, then two by Magbod and finally one by Jon Yusoff.

Fox thought she should practice the SSSR before tackling Anne's dragon, but in the end she opted for ordinary split rings in DMC #80 Red. In spite of her frustration with the directional changes, the end result is a wonderful dragon.

Gina used a sample of the Pink Cocoa in Lizbeth the Jane Eborall sent her to tat her Beginner's Beaded Blossom Brooch.

Kat tatted my Grace Snowflake for the Christmas exchange at InTatters which made her 25th motif. She has plans to start again after the baby arrives. The cross on the right is needle tatted and the part started on the left is that same design that she is shuttle tatting. The shuttle tatting always works out smaller because it is worked directly on the thread.

Kathy found a pretty ellipsoid ornament in Michaels that was perfect for displaying tatting. A little lace, a little flower, a little ribbon and one spectacular ornament.

Marty has another tatted ornament completed from green snowflakes from the Ariel pattern in The Tatter's Treasure Chest that were waiting until she had the time to tat the centre band.

Michelle has joined with others and tatted Mary Konior's Posey with beads.

Orsi was practicing loop tatted rings and created this snowflake. She's not really happy with the results so she plans on tweaking it.

Sherry has another niece on the way and as a special gift she has added a tatted butterfly and the family name in tatting to a baby afghan. Lucky baby. Sherry also has some special silver shuttles available that would make spectacular Christmas gifts.

Michelle finished her bracelet and while it's very pretty, it was also very picky to tat. She thought she might do it with split rings, but that didn't work and she finally did it with mock rings. Can you tell which is which? There's a close up on her blog and coincidentally that makes 25 motifs. She also made earrings to match and following Decoromana's idea, she also completed a matching necklace. Here's the set all together.

Axa created a snowflake design that could be used for a shawl, tablecloth or doily and then expanded on it to make a really awesome design.

Tattabugg tatted #25 of the 25 motif challenge with this pattern by Frivole.

Julie tatted Orsi's Minta Snowflake which turned out beautifully and she wanted to see it again in red with red beads. So here it is in LizBeth bright Christmas Red size 20 with sparkly red beads.

Ninetta has motif #13 finished. It is worked with 2 shuttles, cluny leaves are 12 wraps and all rings are 3-3-3-3 with 1cm long picots. Size is about 3,5cm high, thread is DMC 80 in pink and light blue. Wow! That's a lot of tatting, but it made a gorgeous piece of lace.

Jessica selected a motif from one of the Priscilla books as a focal point for her tatted yarn belt. She's doing it first in size 10 thread before working on it in yarn so that she has a sample to refer to for adaptations. She likes this pattern because it's mostly chains which means she doesn't have to have as much thread on the shuttle.

Patrycja is tatting snowflakes for December. The first one is by Magbod. The second also by Magbod is tatted in size 20 Aida. White Aida 20 and another Magbod pattern. Patrycja has posted links to some of the patterns she's found. This last one she started, but made a mistake and just kept on improvising. It accidentally came out much like the second snowflake she did.

Sunshinecraft got Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems and did this Adiratna snowflake in green, using Oren Bayan metallic, but somehow the hiding ends and taking photos takes much longer than the actual tatting.

Cindy was hesitant to add beads to her tatting, but with a little encouragement from her friends she completed Mary Konior's "Posy" as a pretty green wreath with cheery red beads.

Fox is still fighting with flue germs, but her tatting is still progressing. Gorgeous blue #40 Lizbeth and a snowflake from Frivole. Phantom Star from my Tatted Flurries in white with vivid blue beads and it tatted up perfectly without any need for coaxing it into shape.

Isa has tatted a new angel pattern from JOLIMAMA in polyester metallic golden thread.

Marty tatted 4 of Jane Eborall's butterfly bookmark in Lizbeth size 20 Golden Yellow, Medium - at least that's what the label says this red, white, blue and purple thread is. These were done while attending a work seminar and one has already flown off to a new home.

Mary tatted the Quatrain motif designed by Joelle Paulson in variegated cream, ecru, light tan paired with a rich dark brown.

Mica tatted the Dragon Wing Doily by Anne Bruvold in one of her own hand-dyed skeins of DMC Special Dentelles size 80 thread. She thinks it would probably look better done in 2 solid colours instead.

Jess is celebrating a freak snowstorm Jon's Almas in Lizbeth size 40 Azalea Medium and Jon's Baiduri in Blue Ice.

Ginny's ornament tree with all her tatted and her Mom's knitted ornaments on it.

Anika tatted a flower pin for her cousin's birthday and gave her a little box with a tatted rose on the top for the first tooth she lost.

Jessica tatted this bracelet with the Koigu brand merino wool yarn. It was a bit of a challenge, but it did work.

Marta has another lovely necklace done with the white disc centre. This one with matching white thread.

IsDihara tatted the Snow Angel by Sharren Morgan and one was so pretty she had to do another using Lizbeth size 40 #163 Blue Ice and beads. Lots of beads. An encapsulated safety pin makes for a charming holiday pin.

Fox's tatting turned out to be a pattern by Jan Stawasz that finally resulted in a lovely piece of lace. Then she needed another challenge and decided to play with daisy picots again using Jon's Daisy Picot pattern in pink and green which beautifully matched her shuttle. The motif, which was laid under paper towelling to block and dry, accidentally got thrown in the garbage. Don't panic, it was retrieved and now looks pert and pretty.

Gina found this pattern for a bow in Old-Time Crochet and while it pique's her interest, she's not sure she wants to tackle it because it looks a bit complicated and she's not sure she wants to invest the time and effort if she's not going to have a use for it.

Martha tatted Sandra's Heart' Afire Cross and Sharren's Snow Angel, both patterns which are available on the Palmetto Pattern CD.

Marty was able to test tat some designs for Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems using size 80 DMC tatting thread that her sister dyed for her.

Orsi has added the stitch count to the picture of her Minta pattern for people who want to tat it.

Wanda had to make a museum stop at Roebke Memorial Museum in downtown Holton, Kansas. The cover on the player piano is edged in tatting. The blouse has very simple, but elegant ring and chain inserts and cuffs for one gorgeous garment. The camisole has a ring and chain insert along with a traditional hens and chicks edging.

Jess won Anika's giveaway which included both HDT and tatting. Jon Yusoff's Elegant Tatting Gems "Adan" snowflake is tatted with Anika's pink and black HDT thread. Then she did Jon's "Adiratna" followed by "Almas". She also shows us 2nd of December by Bjorn, the Black one is size 70 Star tatting thread and the mystery pink thread is one she picked up on Etsy. The ends on 3rd day of December by Bjorn aren't sewn in because she accidentally threw her needle away. Three Mountains by Karey Solomon is done in Lizbeth 40 Turquoise lt.

Julie tatted the Knobby Bud Medallion by Lisa Trumble in LizBeth size 20 Snow White, color 601 the first time using 2 shuttles and the second time using 1 shuttle. Two shuttles gives an arch with the JK on top, while one shuttle makes an abrupt break to the arch giving it more of a point. On the last version she replaced the picots on the chain with JKs and added an outward facing ring in the middle for a very different look.

Marta has another necklace design using the white disc. This one is in yellow with decorative chains around the sides.

Mary decided to try our another of the Lizbeth thread colours. This one makes her think of the Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla colours of Neapolitan Ice Cream. The pattern she thinks is a bookmark design is by Sandy Scales and it makes another 25 for her.

Diane was a lucky recipient of one of Jane's pendants and it's a perfect match to her sweater. Diane, Marilee, Sue Anna, and Jean managed to have a tatting get together with tatting and threads and lots of fun and laughter. Diane has completed Baiduri, from Jon Yusoff's Elegant Tatting Gems in size 40 Lizbeth, color #143 Royal Wave.

Fox has been laid low by a miserable flu bug, but she's still tatting. Does it look familiar?

Gina tatted this little snowflake motif from Patty Duff's Minitats and the smaller star was done just to empty her shuttle using Lizbeth Christmas size 20.

Marty's blog has been MIA since August but she has been tatting. She won lots of ribbons at the fair for her ankle bracelet, her hat, decorated with one of Jon Yusoff's snowflakes and the letter M-both made in size 80 "Oh, Baby" HDT thread from her sister and the pink Hearts Desire bookmark. She got first prize ribbons for the button doily, and the Easter and Christmas ornaments. She also got a first place ribbon on the large centerpiece she adapted from a Jan Stawasz pattern.

Orsi modified one of her previous motifs for Christmas cards.

Frances took Mary Konior's carnival motif and made a Christmas ornament by adding an angel to the centre and a beaded hanger. A small tatted angel was added to a card.

Heather has used fall coloured yo yos to make a turkey with a felt gobble and googly eyes, but when she tries to do it with tatting she just gets some concentric circles. Any ideas?

Jessica is all decked out like a Christmas Tree with yards of the garland she tatted.

Marta designed this pendant using milk white beads and disc surrounded in tatting.

Mary tried out Jon Yusoff's Adan snowflake design with the new blue and green Lizbeth Thread and both were a terrific success. The colours in this bookmark remind her of hot apple pie, apples, caramel and fresh whipped cream.

Bree does a lot of this motif. This one is done in spring green, Lizbeth, size 20 but she has done a lot of them in size 80 in white for the Christmas Tree. Here she has given the stitch count in the picture so you can tat your own.

Fox loves this snowflake from Jon's first book tatted in Cébélia size 30, black and ecru. The snowflake was started in Valdani but mistakes were impossible to undo. Orsi's pattern was tatted with Finca #12 in vibrant red.

Jess has posted her very first tatted bits from when she was learning a butterfly and section of edging. Then there is this piece that she did without making note of the source which is 10 inches long and done in "braiding cord".

Heather has pulled out a WIP that's sat unfinished for years just waiting to have the ends hidden and blocked. Her best tatting ever is a beautiful cap with beaded rosettes in the centre and around the edge.

Michelle thought this motif would make a lovely bracelet, but now she's not too sure. Part of the problem is that it's had an unexpected tea bath. She admired a motif Gina whipped up and had to give it a try. This little snowflake is one she saw on Decoromana's blog.

Anika made the Tatted Bookmark by Nancy Tracy at be-stitched as a gift for the bishop.

Tattabugg created Mary Konior's cross bookmark from Tatting with Visual Patterns and the snowflake from the book 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn in size 80 thread. The Red-eyed Green Tree Frog by Karen Bickerton was tatted in Lizbeth size 20 in Leaf Green and Harvest Orange and it's a perfect size for a bookmark.

Bree has another yo-yo done with a tatted border. She's having so much fun doing yo-yos that she did another in ecru colored fabric and Lizbeth green leaf, size 20 for the edging with a pretty gold button in the middle.

Fox used thread by Tatskool to tat this snowflake with loop tatted rings by Bina, but she found it very fiddly. She used Valdani size 12 to tat Karey's Leaf bookmark. Jon's "Mirage" snowflake was also tatted with #12 Valdani, but she's decided she doesn't care for the thread. Orsi's pattern seems to be in hiding so Fox downloaded so Fox downloaded the one form Frivole's blog and she has started it in Lizbeth size 20. It was such an enjoyable tat that she has plans to do it again in red. She has discovered that a design in a recently purchased book looks a lot like one that she has already tatted in size 80 DMC thread.

Gina is continuing her exploration of vintage patterns with Figures 18 and 19 of Plate III and again she has included stitch count on the photos. Figures 20 and 21 of Plate III finish her 25 motifs and on the last one she has included even more detail on her blog. The group picture shows all the lovely laces. She used Manuela/Hakelgarn thread size 20 for the Praying Angel from Nine Tatted Angels by Monica Hahn but decided on some modifications for it.

Kelly has been doing interlocking chain-ring centers for these snowflakes using size 10 thread with beads and she's made about 20 of them so far.

Frances tatted Mary Konior's Black Magic as a motif, then her bell flower modified to a six point star with beads to fill the spaces. Her own design of this round of frilly chains has been turned into the 5th Christmas ball with lots of beads along the outer ruffle. This trim was made 20 years ago to trim a evening suit and it's the daisy chain from one of the Dover publications.

Jess was making Lene Bjorn's 9th day of December snowflake from 24 Snowflakes in Tatting but ran out of thread and made a star instead. She started the Third of December in Lizbeth size 20 Victorian Red and the outside row will be in Lizbeth 684. The Mary Konior Glass mat is done in Lizbeth size 80 Pink Cocoa.

Axa tatted this Jon Yusoff motif that creates an interesting design within design when 4 are tatted together.

Jessica liked the effect of the tatted chains wrapped around the string of beads, so when the store had the larger size of bead strings on sale she bought both beads and size 3 thread to tat around them. This strand is only 6 feet long so she expects to have it done in the next few days.

Mary tatted the new Lizbeth colour Jungle Greens, into a Christmas Tree. This other new Lizbeth thread colour was tatted into a bookmark.

IsDihara posted a picture of Kathy wearing a tatted scarf and wonders if the shawl she posted a picture of could be done in tatting.

Brigitte has finished Motif # 6 in white Lizbeth Size 20 thread, which is from Judi Banashek's book "Advanced Tatting Patterns".

Diane used size 40 Lizbeth, color #163 to tat Jon Yusoff's Almas from Elegant Tatting Gems. She's not sure when she'll need to use single shuttle split rings, but at least now she knows how to do them.

Fox tatted the Leaf pattern by Karey Solomon using thread by Tatskool for her son. She was sorting out tatted bits to give to her sister and came across Bree's Shaded Sun motif that she had tatted earlier. She's using some vintage beads and yellow thread on a pattern by Susanne Schwenke. Finca #16 thread and vintage glass beads look wonderful in this Susanne Schwenke pattern. Success with the pattern prompted her to try loop-tatted rings which were also a success.

Gina is continuing to tat the medallions from the DMC Tatting Library and this one is Figures 16 and 17 of Plate III. She has included the stitch count on the picture beginning with the centre section, followed by the outer round and finally the finished medallion. She found the next design fiddly with rings thrown off chains and again she has shown the stitch count. Marilee's tree was done in size 20 DMC and the beads are silver seed beads size 11/0. Gina took the time to measure the amount of thread required to tat Mary's Butterfly which she plans on stitching onto a muslin bag. She really admired this motif Jane tatted up recently and she was delightfully surprised when it appeared in her mail box and she had just the right colour chain to set it off.

Isa tatted Britt Andersson's harpin lace angel in size 70 cotton thread and it's only 4 cm square. Another angel of the same design also in size 70 thread with more beads. This one was mounted in a ring.

Lily has fun making these hairclips. The first set done in Hakelgarn size 10 in snow white are called carnival hair clips due to the colors. Green clips with Blue flowers and green beads are done in Hakelgarn size 10 in Royal Blue. The pink clips with Black flowers and red beads are made in Lizbeth size 10. Another layered flower ring is done in Lizbeth Black size 20 with Czech crystal bead in the center and tiny glass seed beads from Fox.

Stephanie Grace has just acquired Celtic Tatting Knots and Patterns by Rozella Linden and had to try out the Celtic Cross Bookmark. Then she did a scan of her recently completed bracelet that's much clearer than the picture she showed earlier. The "Wave" bookmark by Sandy Scales from Tatted Bookmarks edited by Barbara Foster was done in LizBeth's Country Side in size 20.

Sue tatted the Fourth Day of December Snowflake from 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn in size 80 DMC cotton thread with Czech glass beads.

Wanda found an old UFO some 9 inch sections of edging done in what she thinks is DMC size 30 ecru. Almost done except for finishing of the ends. She has no idea what they were originally intended for but she's sure she can find a use for them.

Anika created this design as a bracelet but it could just as easily be a bookmark, done with her own dyed threads. Then she did another design which can be made as long as you want. The patterns for these are on her blog. Then she created a ring design. The small motif design was created and tatted in more of her HDT. A lovely little design just right for trying out new thread samples.

Bree painted the eggs go on her egg tree and added tatting to them. They still need to have ribbons put on these 2 ornaments for hanging, and a couple of beads just to spruce them up.

Diane decided to work on Adan from Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff done in colour #130, size 20 Lizbeth. Diane met in cyberspace with Michelle, Cindy, Dena, and Teresa for tat and chat and learned how to make a single shuttle split ring.

Fox tatted the bookmark from Martha's Playing with Picots in #12 Finca which she still likes. She spent Remembrance Day thinking of her Dad. The poppy design done in red and black is Jon's pattern. She took another try at Julie Patterson's snowflake done in #16 Finca. Kira's Star, designed by Birgit Phelps is tatted in Lizbeth #40 but she finds the colour insipid.

Gina loved these medallions from the DMC Tatting Library and they were her inspiration for doing the 25 Motif Challenge again. She shows the design with the stitch count. The medallion on the left shows the design with the needlelace insert and the one on the right shows it without.

Lily shows how she gets a glittery effect on her tatting by applying glue with a fine tip paint brush and a matte effect by soaking the finished piece in diluted glue anf blotting off the excess. Teri Dusenbury's Regal Heart is finished and Lily decided she want to make more hairclips. The rings were done in Lizbeth Size 20 Sea Green Dk with Czech beads and Brown and Copper thread size 80. Another Dusenbury pattern, made with Altin Basak size 50 and seed beads will be attached to a silver-plated ring finding.

Stephanie Grace tatted the Rose Ornament from Monica Hahn's Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns in Lizbeth size 20 Victorian Red and Christmas Green. Then she did a ring and chain edging with oil-stain-colored beads and turned it into a ring. She decided to play around with the little glass disc beads she bought and tatted this pendant in Lizbeth size 20 in black.

Jess tatted Tammy Rodger's Maple Leaf in size 80 Pink Cocoa. She created her own leaf that she calls the Livi Leaf in honour of her daughter Olivia using Lizbeth size 20 Seagreen.

Ginny has created lots of ornaments for her new book and here are a few of them.

Heather says in tatting she leaves in the stitches and takes out the mistakes, except when they're too knotty and then she calls them a new design - or a cat toy. Good choice.

Mary fell in love with Maus' Christmas Tree and she had to tat one of her own. The new Blue Ice thread in size 40 from Lizbeth just called out to be made into snowflakes like Kira's Star and Eileen Stafford's Snowflake.

IsDihara has perfected her Cross Your Heart motif. It's a combination of Hearts Afire Cross by Crazy Mom and Hearts edging by Dee Powell tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Victorian Red #670 and measures 4 inches by 4 inches.

Linda made a needlebook for her Christmas Exchange partner with tatted embellishments including initials tatted in green.

Brigitte tatted Terry McGuffin's windmill snowflake in what she thinks is DMC Cebelia Size 20.

Diane is working on Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat in size 20 HDT but she's not sure what it is because she's lost the tag.

Fox started tatting Tina Frauberger's Crown edging in Finca 16 but it really needed a crisper thread so she switched to DMC 80. Fox used Altin Basak size 50 to tat this beautiful snowflake from Martha's new book Playing with Picots and she's thrilled that she did the entire motif on her first try. Then she did a bit more on the crown edging. Julie Patterson's snowflake pattern uses lots of different techniques all in a very small space and it wasn't a fun tat, but she did manage it.

Gina is continuing her travels through DMC Library - Tatting with Plate V, Figure 28 tatted in DMC Special cordonnet in size 20. She has also included the picture with stitch counts. She did it again in blue with joining picots and several of them made a very pretty bookmark. Martha's Mirror Mirror bookmark was tatted in ecru J & P Coates 6 cord Mercerized in size 30 because Gina has plans to dye it later. Marilee's Layered Ring Christmas Tree Pattern had a short rest break in the middle and as a result the tension is different on the second side. In Aida size 20 thread it's perfect for earrings or pendant.

Isa finished the first part of her tatting project and the second part is begun. She has another project in process, which turns out to be a very special tatted angel. The pattern is by Ros-Marié Andersson, which she tatted with cotton thread size 20 with crystal beads and the angel she bought in Denmark.

Kelly has been laid up due to surgery on her ankle, but the good news is that lots of stationary time is good for tatting. She has been working on the Yes U Can doily and making great progress.

Lily found a glass topped box perfect for holding a motif tatted in size 20 Hakelgarn. The perfectly white motif has an ecru border because the thread snapped and when she picked up another shuttle to finish the pattern she didn't realize it was filled with ecru thread. The box makes a good home for all of her tatted pieces. The mail brought her a lovely package of goodies from Fox's giveaway which included thread samples beads and of course Teri Dusenbury's Tatting Hearts book as well as a stunning collection of motifs that Fox has done. Lily has chosen to tat the Regal Heart from the book first using pink Altin Basak size is 50 and is posting real time results of her progress.

Martha made a pair of Nina's Winter Solstice earrings from the Palmetto conference CD. She noticed the Mary Knior's reference to the early 19th century handkerchief is the same hanky pattern as the one she won off ebay. Not the exact hanky, but certainly close enough to date Martha's find.

Orsi has almost finished her lace pattern basic motif. She decided to create a multi flower motif that will be perfect for repetition to make a lace fabric.

Sherry has some new batches of Icicle and Helm's Deep HDT done. The butterfly from her first butterfly book is tatted in her Wildflowers HDT.

Sue was asked what she would do with her tatted butterfly motifs and as you can see she put several of them on headbands for the younger crowd.

Wanda shares this handkerchief that her mother gave gave her done in hen and chicks edging. She's thinking of how best to display it.

Jessica likes the technique Krystledawne uses to cover a strand of rhinestones and she used the same process on a string of beaded garland. She likes the way the tatting twists around the beads when both sides are done but she may not get both sides done this year.

IsDihara is inspired by Crazy Mom's Hearts Afire Cross and wants to expand it into a heart. An edging by Dee Powell called Hearts has been added around the outside to create hearts within hearts.

Fox tatted Cintamani another of Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems pattern in Lizbeth size 40 and Milford size 50 using green and turquoise beads.

Heather is continuing her beginner How-To series showing how to sew in ends.

Garyo tatted this motif in Lizbeth #40 in Linen Md using a pattern from Nina Libin's book Tatted Lace with Beads which called for 2 shuttles. She did the first one on the right with a shuttle and ball using SCMR. The one on the left was done with 2 shuttles and looks better.

Jessica hasn't worked on her shawl for a while mostly because she lost the sample pieces she had been working with. She has finished the second of 3 borders she was working on and she'll leave all of the joining pieces unconnected until she's sure it's going to work and then connect them in the appropriate places on the final piece.

Marta has been inspired by all of the colour in the changing leaves to tat in sunny yellow and the thought of palm trees and coconuts resulted in this piece.

IsDihara was all set up to start her tatting class at her LYS when her sweetie stopped by to deliver a package received in the mail, her copy of Marilee's new book, Tatted Jewelry.

Linda tatted The Snowflake Tree and the Christmas Present Bookmark from Karey's Tatting Times. She used variegated Lizbeth Red size 20 for the bookmark and opted for Josephine knots instead of beads and a modified tail.

Anne hasn't had time for blogging but she has been tatting. Hearts of hope, Netty the Newt and some snowflakes patterns by Jon Yusoff are displayed on a Catherine wheel made using Trapilho yarn.

Diane hasn't had a lot of tatting time but she did tat the Simple Bookmark by Dianna Stevens in size 20 Lizbeth, color #130 which will be a gift for her friend Nancy.

Fox is done with Almas in DMC size 80 and it's right this time, although the thread broke on the last repeat. Last year she took a lot of her earlier tatting that had just been sitting around, to a shelter for women to use in decorating Christmas cards or in some arts and crafts and they were well received, so she's doing the same thing this year. She did quite a few of Jon's designs. There were some that were first or second attempts. She has also finished the tatted edging on the sleeves of her jacket.

Gina is continuing to work through DMC Library - Tatting - Editions Th. de Dillmont with Plate 5, Figure 27. She has noted a mistake in her first trial tatted in DMC Special Cordonnet in size 20, probably caused by the less than clear instructions in the vintage publication. She has also included the stitch count for anyone wanting to tat the motif. She did it again in 2 colours of Omega size 30 and then did a four some so that she could see what it would look like. One of the motifs uses JKs instead of rings.

Stacy has been tatting Marilee Rockley's small maple leaf pattern in all of the fall colors of Lizbeth size 20 so that she can scatter them over her Thanksgiving table.

Michelle tatted some celtic pumpkin earrings. Then she thought she might do a pumpkin bracelet, until she got distracted by Elizabeth Zipay's snowflakes done in Lizbeth size 20. This little cutie was done in some vintage Aunt Rose-E thread, size 80 or 70.

Barbara and her lace group are working on a tatting round robin. She was given a motif and had to add a round she designed and although she was nervous about it it turned out quite nice. The next one of course was larger and she added her row to it. That makes her 25th motif and finished her second round of 25 motifs.

Diane is in the mood for snowflakes so she tatted Adiratna from Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems in size 20 Lizbeth, color #130 which is not a traditional snowflake colour, but it's not boring.

Fox finally decided that she liked the edging she was doing and when the first side was tatted and attached upside down it looked perfect. Now she's suffering second sock syndrome, where the first one is lovely and enchanting and the second one is hours of boring sameness that makes you forget why you loved it in the first place. The problem with Almas has been discovered as a problem at the beginning which is happily correctable now that she knows what to look for.

Gina tatted the first pattern in the recent Tatting Times which is a Christmas Present Bookmark in fall colours its a pretty leaf, but in green with beads, it's easily a Christmas tree. She made some little gift bags out of some holiday fabric and decided to dress a few up with some tatted trim.

Isa finished the hummingbird by Karen Lindsay in silk thread and cotton thread size 20, and white crystal beads with two black beads to the eyes. What a gorgeous little hummer.

Stephanie is working on the pattern called "Rosebud Refreshment Set" from The Tatter's Treasure Chest Edited by Mary Carolyn Waldrep in Caron Simply Soft yarn in Soft Blue and Grey Heather. She has plans to tat 35 9 motif blocks to make a blanket. Three little crosses and one little flower are patterns from Tatting Jewellery by Lyn Morton which are done in LizBeth Size 20 in Ecru, Boysenberry Dark, and Victorian Red adorned with shiny little pearl beads. The flower is also in LizBeth 20, in Dust Rose Lt. She did the ecru cross with a huge picot so that it could be hung as an ornament. Then she tatted the Christmas tree using the pattern she's done before again with a huge picot for hanging. The bracelet is "Design 14" from Tatting by Christel Weidmann in LizBeth, size 20, Boysenberry Dk.

Wanda has been enjoying the colour of the fall leaves and was inspired to tat the Maple Leaf Motif from the February 1975 Workbasket magazine, with changes by Tammy Rodgers. One is made with Lizbeth #169 Autumn Apple Pie and #670 Victorian Red, both in size 40; the other is in Victorian Red only, again size 40.
